DekSeal Flat Roof Repair

Science meets roof repair with Ballman Roofing Specialists in Kent
Dekseal is an advanced technology roofing over-coating solution. The system is a catalyst activated liquid plastic membrane. The system comprises two layers of the membrane that sets within 20 minutes.  There is also an option of a further anti-slip traffic coat.

In addition to the above, Dekseal also requires reinforcing fleece to be applied over large cracks and upstands, there is also a filler kit that can reduce ponding and mortar mix for making good gaps and poor surface areas.

The system does not benefit from the extensive warranties and high grade fire ratings of products such as 3M Scothchkote”, but the manufacturers provide a 10 year warranty A-B fire rating, and it has a much lower cost per m” rate in comparison to these other products.

DekSeal Preparation:

Prior to commencing the application, the existing surface should be thoroughly cleaned of all dirt, fungal growth, loose solar coverings etc. We power wash the surface, if required.   On completion of the cleaning, we proceed to coating the whole of the roof area and upstands with Dekseal Primer and allow this to cure.

Areas of standing water we try to eliminate or reduce, in accordance with good roofing practice.  Areas of standing water should be avoided where possible and where they do occur should evaporate within 48hrs in average temperatures, with no rainfall. Self-levelling kits can be applied to such areas to achieve this.

Cracks in the existing surface are repaired using Dekseal Detailing Primer and Joint Tape.  Larger cracks are filled with Dekseal Crack and Joint Filler.

Blisters in the felt covering are cut, opened up and the moisture dried out. The felt will then be folded back and bedded in Crack and Joint Filler. Cuts in the blisters are then treated in a similar manner to cracks in the roof surface. Details of the products and their uses are below.
